Poll-War combat compared to that "other MMO" come November. What do you plan to do?

Keep it constructive....

What do you plan to do in November?

I'm giving this game until November..... at that time several of my friends and I will be making the decision to either close our WAR accounts and buy that "other game's" expansion or stay. It is truly sad that a decision even needs to be made, because we have been tracking this game for a very long time and planned on never going back to that "other game".

Things that need to be improved in order for us to continue playing:

1. Tanks contributions towards rewards/reknown gain. Right now most rewards are based on either healing or damage. Maybe add in a damage absorbed feature for tanks and how many other players damage they took on in order to contribute more as a bonus to their damage.

2. Pet tracking (even after the patch I still see pets/mobs teleporting around)

3. Gear needs to look unique. This is one of the few games where someone can wear the same looking gear for 20 levels. (I now know why they added in a dye option)

4. Defend/Attack Keeps for gear worse than what I bought off of the Auction House. I rarely see anyone attacking a keep and defending them almost never happens. We need better rewards to make keeps more active, because right now they are dead.

5. Elfs. I don't know what it is but when I play a High Elf it feels like the game went back in time to EQ days. Everything from the way elfs run to the way they fight looks "dated". The other races though do look up to par, I have not heard any complaints on the other races. But a lot of people complain about the way the Elfs look, run, and attack.

6. Make this game to run smoothly on "most computers". I have no problems running this game on my own computer (which is a Gateway FX) but I have played it on friends computers who have quit because the game was choppy and frames skipped during combat. Yet they can log onto "that other MMO" and everything runs fine. I do not see a huge difference in graphics, so I do not understand why they can play that other game just fine and not this one.

7. I play a marauder and do not see any needs for buffs. But some careers like the Squig Hunter or Engineer are in need for MAJOR buffs. Squig Herders not only die fast but they have low damage on top of that (even with the pet's damage). Swordmasters are almost useless....low damage and the highest dance move does just about the same damage as the lowest. Mean while you have the over powered bright wizards nukeing people for all their health. I understand the point of a "glass cannon" but this is ridiculous.

8. Make the game less of a grind. I thought this was supposed to be a RvR packed game and not a boreing kill counting quest grind to 40. Right now I've played the game since release and have yet to see a situation where I wasn't waiting around for a SC to pop while grinding through quests. Even worse is that in each tier there is only 1 SC being played, over and over. "That other MMO" forced people to play other games by making you buy stuff with marks. Right now I only see one SC being played in each tier. ***Yes I understand that we can que up for all the SC's in that tier*** but what I am saying is people are only playing one SC over all 3 areas.

9. Release the 4 careers you cut and the content. The only reason I wanted to play this game was to roll a choppa. Since he is not in the game (but was in the cinematic with the slayer which is misleading) I have been leveling alts patiently waiting. I do not think I will be waiting for a lengthy period of time to see if he gets put in the game or not. I hope Mythic is holding off releasing the 4 careers to suprise us with them right before "that other MMOs expanion" releases. I really really hope this is their strategy.

10. Blocking. Right now players can teleport through other players after 2-3 seconds. When you stand in front of someone you should be able to block them permanently.

11. Make your website player friendly. Allow us to post ideas/comments via official forums. As much as I enjoy posting on this sites forums I am unsure how much of it is being read by Mythic. We need official forums badly.

for a game that has 1 month behind it, im very impressed with how it has developed. If your played closed beta AT ALL, you would understand how fast Mythic is working to fix/change things for the players.

So enough with these dooms day threads already, this game has had the most sucessful launch out of any MMO in history, and I dont see it going anywhere but up.

^ What he said.

Some of your concerns are valid. However, as much as I hate to come across as a knee-jerk fanboi, I think it's premature to condemn the game and Mythic for not having dealt with these issues yet.

In my honest opinion, I might play another game seeing the state of the game is not so great.

I am entirely done with The Other MMO.
On the off-chance that I quit WAR, I am not 'going back' anywhere, I simply will not have an MMO to grind.
I'd end up playing Team Fortress 2 or something instead.

November is meaningless to me, so unless WAR takes a turn for the worse or my money dries up I plan to be staying, especially given all the quick and speedy updates Mythic's been doing.

Some of your points are valid bugs, some are misinformed, and some are opinion. I can totally understand wanting bugs fixed, I do too, though I'm not impatient about it. For the misinformed things I've given you some info, but as for the opinions, sorry, but balance is up to Mythic. If you're not happy with the balance here, I'd suggest going to a game where you DO like it. I personally hated the balance in "that other game," but again, just my opinion. Why pay to play a game you're not enjoying, HOPING that it'll change into something you do? Doesn't make sense. Enjoy it for what it is.

1. This already happens. What most people don't realize is that level has a huge impact on it. The higher the level, the higher the requirement for PQ contribution. I've been in plenty of PQs where no matter what I did, I couldn't get higher contribution than the tank, and it's certainly not because he was doing damage. If you're getting low contribution, you're probably higher level than everyone else. You will also get less renown and XP from killing the same person. Ergo, if you're, say, a level 30 in a t3 scenario, you will get less than a 20, because you're getting less from the kills. I have no problem with this, maybe you do.

2. No real argument here about the pets in terms of pathing. I also kind of think pets should get a base speed boost or ability that boosts speed temporarily, but that's opinion. As for mob teleporting, haven't had this happen in the last couple days, and they don't actually teleport, it's just a graphical bug, so it doesn't actually affect my approach to PvE mobs.

3. Opinion. Me, I don't really find any difference between this and everyone looking the same in PvP in that other game (all arena gear now unless you're terrible). I personally value the ability to choose my color scheme greatly, but that's just me.

4. Can't say anything about the rewards from keep attacking, I haven't been fortunate enough to win something. But keeps flip on my server all day long, mostly ending up in Order hands when the day is over. Stupid Mithril Warhammers and their swarms of dwarves. I do agree that if the Keep sieging loot isn't stellar if you're fortunate enough to win some, then it should be changed.

5. I don't like High Elves of any kind in the first place (for lore reasons), so I can't comment on this, but again, opinion.

6. Partly correct. My rig is awesome, and I do get sever frame rate loss when I fight inside the ruins of the Temple of Isha. Right outside them I'm fine, as soon as I can see the flag, bang, framerate gone, don't ask me why. There's one other place like that but I can't remember what it is right now. Most of the rest of peoples complaints come from the fact that WAR has improper garbage collection, so over time your performance will decay. This can be fixed by simply restarting the game every couple hours. This is also the reason that exiting from the game can take a while if you have been playing for a couple hours or more.

7. Again, opinion. I happen to agree that a couple of classes need some loving, though I do not agree that there's anything wrong with BWs (I sneeze on them and they die). However, again, waiting for a balance patch is as silly in this game as any other. My brother realized that a long time ago, since Hunters in WoW have been useless in Arena forever (according to him, I don't play a Hunter, apparently there are statistics though), and he finally realized that waiting for a balance patch was silly. Enjoy the game as it is.

8. This is one common lament that I simply don't understand. Every MMO I've ever seen is a grind, it's how they retain customers for more than a month or two. Whether its grind for gold, grind for level, grind for honor, doesn't matter, when you get right down to it, it's all a grind. I've been RvRing from rank 1 to 27/25 on my DoK and 24/23 on my Magus, and it doesn't feel grindy to me. But then, there is variety in the T3 scenarios on my server, since all of them pop. I don't queue for Talabec Dam or Black Fire Basin because I hate them, but the other 4 pop about equally. I feel no need to rush to 40, because I can already do what I want to do, which is RvR. Perhaps your server is just poor. Also, I'm sorry, but the mark system was terrible in WoW, and is an example of a grind that you were just complaining about. But again, my opinion.

9. Again, waiting for patches hoping the game will turn into something you want is kind of silly. They'll add them when they think they're ready (and if you played beta you know as well as I do that they just weren't). If you only want to play a choppa, then why not just unsubscribe until they release it? You'll save money, and you would have to start all over when the choppa came out anyway.

10. Actually, this isn't teleporting, it's a problem with the coding somewhere (I don't know where). It results in your display not realizing that someone has run around you until a couple seconds after they do, then it catches up. I completely agree it's annoying, but I'm not a coder, I have no idea how long it will take to fix that, so I just deal with it.

11. I totally disagree with this, actually I think that other companies should have taken Mythic's approach long ago. Look around you, for every constructive post there are forty whine/rant/iquit/look at me threads. MMO forums are basically a cesspool, I have no idea why other companies pay to maintain them. Only reason I even visit them is when I'm bored at work. There are great ingame reporting and feedback tools, which I suggest you use. They post updates on the herald. That's all we need. You're fooling yourself if you think that other MMO developers even read their official forums. I wouldn't if I owned the company.

I have a friend who's been paying to play Eve for the last 6 months, and will pay for another 5. He doesn't play, he doesn't enjoy it right now, he's just training for a carrier hoping that it will get fun when he gets one. Seems silly, no? Same thing here. If you're not having fun with it as it is right now, there are plenty of other options out there, you can try it again in a few months when its been patched a few times. Why waste the money? I made that mistake with WoW for a year and a half after BC came out. Wasn't having fun, finally realized I was just wasting my money.

I've never touched that "other game", not even a demo or trial, and I'm not starting just because some expansion is coming out. If I do get tired of Warhammer Online, I'll just go back to EVE, which I still play now.

Voted to stick with Warhammer. I love the potential here. I've had my fill with WoW (I booked the 13th off work, but I won't bother now). The only MMO I would consider returning to is Eve, but the Dev's seem to have shafted that at the moment.

I'm going to set my subs up now and just try to enjoy things and hopefully help improve the game - its essentially the first MMO ive been able to play from day 0, so its an interesting ride!

/agree. If the game were in the same state in 2-3 months, I might consider quitting MMOs altogether (I'm done with the grindfest that is most MMOs nowadays). But I have complete faith that won't be the case.
